(Fall19) Knitting Skills

Knitting Class with Rona Newmark
Days: Thursdays
Dates: September 26 // October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 // November 7, 14, 21
Time: 3:30 - 5:30PM
Location: Art Barn Conference Room
Fee: $35 per class (plus $20 materials fee for first class). Multiple classes will be required to complete projects.

This multi-level class welcomes first time knitters as well as those with more experience.  Projects will be tailored to your skill set, and are designed to help you develop new skills while creating wearable garments such as cowls, scarves, and hats.  Materials for the first beginning knitting project will be available in class.  A full materials list for all projects is provided at registration. 
 
Summer Projects and Materials for “Knitting Skills”

1. Learning the Knit Stitch (Simple Garter Cowl)

200 yds worsted weight yarn and size 8 (5.0 mm) straight needles
The pattern will be provided in class

1. Learning the Purl Stitch (Elegant Ribbed Scarf)

300 yds worsted weight yarn and size 8 (5.0mm) straight needles or 300 yds sport weight yarn and size 6 (4.00mm) straight needles
The pattern will be provided in class

1. Learning Shaping (Vertigo Hat)

 200 yds worsted or aran weight yarn  and size 8 straight needles

1. Knitting in the Round (Maritime Morning Cowl)

200 yds aran or worsted weight yarn, size 8 (5.0mm) 16” circular needle, stitch marker and .75” button
             Pattern must be purchased from https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/maritime-morning-cowl

1. Knitting in the Round with Shaping (Ribbed Hat)

150-200 yds worsted or aran yarn, size 9 (5.5mm) 16” circular needle, size 9 double pointed needles, stitch marker
The pattern will be provided in class

1. First Lace Project (Simple Lace Scarf)
   350-400 yds DK or sport weight yarn, size 8 (5.0mm) straight or circular needles
   The pattern will be provided in class
2. First Cable Project (Cabled Scarf)
   400 yds worsted or aran yarn, size 8 (5.0mm) straight or circular needles, stitch markers, cable needle
   The pattern will be provided in class
3. Feather and Fan Scarf (Allover Lace Scarf)
   400 yds fingering weight yarn, size 5 (3.75mm), stitch markers
