Visiting Artist Workshop: Alternative Firing - A Unique Firing Experience
with Lois Hirshberg
Dates: Saturday, October 24th and Sunday, October 25th
Time: 9:00AM - 4:00PM each day
Location: Pottery Studio
Fee: $150 for a one day workshop. *Please note* in an effort to accommodate students in limited sized classes due to COVID-19, we ask that students sign up for one day only - Saturday or Sunday - to ensure others have an opportunity to register. Thank you!

Come spend the weekend at Featherstone with Lois Hirshberg exploring the magic of several fast-firing techniques. Western Raku, and Horse Hair Raku will be some of the spectacular techniques that we will be exploring.  These firing techniques never get boring. It is the unpredictability of the process that makes this weekend so exciting. This workshop is open to all levels of expertise. Students should bring 8 to 10 bisque pieces. This workshop will be solely focused on surface developments and firing techniques. Students won’t be making greenware pieces, only firing the bisque ware that they bring.

Lois Hirshberg began working in clay in 1975 at Mudflat Studios in Cambridge where she fell in love with clay.  Lois holds an M.Ed in Community Counseling and a M.A. in Art Therapy. She has studies ceramics in Jerusalem at the Bezalel School of Design and in Japan through Parsons School of Design.
